G'Day Curt,
The guys are right, but you have a small current draw not a short causing your problem. Remove either battery terminal & connect a test lamp between the battery post & terminal. If it lights up, you have an unwanted circuit causing your problem. Now comes the Jessica Fletcher trick, to find where it is. Start with the generator by removing the wire from the cutout, if the lamp remains on, replace the wire, roll the dice, then proceed to the next mysterious electrical item like the coil & so on until the lamp goe off when the wire is disconnected. It might be an idea to have asupply of your favourite beverage at hand to fortify yourself with as Murphy's Law states that from whichever end you start, the fault will lie with the last item checked. Once you've ascertained what's causing the fault, depending what it is, you may need to pull another rabbit out of the hat or place another posting on this board. Good luck & remember, patience is a virtue.
