: My engine was rebuilt about 4,000 miles ago. It was a total rebuild with new pistons and babbit being poured. Some insist that bearing clearances must be checked and adjusted every 5,00 miles. Others tell me, " If the engine is running fine and not knocking, don't worry. Any thoughts on this?

I would think a check at 10K miles would be more like it. Unless you hear something out of the ordinary my experience is check at 10K miles. I'm coming up on 10K with my current engine and other that a lifter that I can hear it is a quite as the day I put it in (1994). Once touring season slows down I'll drop the pan and give everthing a check/adjustment as required.
