: Hi, : Anybody ever done this before? I was wondering what would be the negitives? : Dean Travis Hi Dean, The main drawback is the transportation and duties. A few years ago (about '90/'91), I saw a nice '29 Tudor in Santiago, Chile at a corner used car lot.A real nice driver/tour car.Nothing fancy, just a plain jane. The asking price was 1,000,000 Chilean pesos or about $3,000 US.Not a bad price for a rust free mechanically sound car that appeared to able to just drive away. When I returned home, I looked into how much it would cost to have it shipped to Houston etc.Estimates were about $3,000 to $5,000 for the shipment and US custom duties as well as export duties out of Chile. Now we have a plain jane driver Tudor at about $6,000 to $8,000.Which at the time seemed a little much.If it had been a lower production volume body style, Victoria, DeLuxe Phaeton, Cabriolet etc etc in the same condition then maybe it would have been worth it. That was my experience, maybe some of the other folks have had a different experience or know a better way. John
