A couple of things for your consideration:
In the Nov/Dec 1997 issue of the MAFCA magazine The Restorer, there's an article on how to make your own trunk.
Also, check with John deSousa, 5 Btrownstone Road, East Granby, CT 06026.He has trunk plans, hardware and fasteners and leather parts for do-it-yourselfers.
There's also an article in an older Restorer: Jan-Feb 1975 (19-3) by Marshall Lewis and Loren Sorenson about Building Your Own Custom Luggage Trunk.
