You may have answered the question I have about what went under the patent tag. On my late 31 coupe there was a smaller tag but it had no paint, I figured it might have been a dealer tag. The sheet metal stamp, I mentioned in another follow-up, has a B in it but I have to make sure exactly what it is and get back.
The steel seat carriage also has the different subrails to accomodate the sliders. It is not wise to cut the them at the door post for replacement but a few inches back. This is from one in the rust belt.

: Coupes along with tudors, roadsters, standard phaetons, and most commercial cabs were built by Ford. However, there have been a few claims (I've not personally substantiated) of Briggs built coupe bodies identified by a Briggs body tag mounted by two pan head sheetmetal screws just below the Ford patent tag on the firewall.
