Dan,

I put rear half sub rails that I purchased from Bratton's on my 30 coupe!I had to work the new rail a bit to get a good fit but I didn't think it was all that hard or time consuming. I think from what I hear in the industry, there really isn't a perfect fit to any of the repo parts available.

I don't think making your own rail is a good idea. The rails I purchased conformed to the many panels that have to attach to the rail. This I think made for a cleaner installation.
