I am a novice at using the Net so please be patient. thank you. My husband & I were delighted to see your page. Tx.Dan & Idelle Watkin

Hi Dan and Idelle..

If you have your engine apart, or going to have it rebuilt, I would recommend using the newer two piece Nitrile rear main seal available for the A or B engine. (special rubber like compound). If you can't find the seal in any Model A parts magazines, e-mail me, and I will give you a source for it.

To use the seal, the rear of the crankshaft has to be machined to turn down one of the oil slinger diameters to accept the seal. The directions will guide the machinist as to where and what diameter to turn it to.

I did that on my B engine, and there is no sign of a leak.
