: Anyone know of a good engine builder that does insert bearings in the Northern California area?

We here in Houston have used Pete's Automotive Machine Shop in Albequerque, NM.I just sent a block to him (for babbitting), and the cost each way for freight was only $70.They do outstanding work on inserts, and I would guess that they have done at least 20 blocks or so for Model "A" enthusiasts in the Houston area alone. The work is quality/first class, and the vehicles driven here with the inserts have lived up to their expectations.

If you're willing to go outside of California -- and NM isn't that far away! -- Pete's has a national reputation for excellent work.(I'm not on commission...)Send me an e-mail if you would like further info, etc., and I will dig out prices, phone numbers, etc.

Pete's son is running the business these days, and he should remember my odd name -- if not my block -- since he babbitted same only a few months ago.

Good luck!
