: Roy, : I've always believed it was an asphalt based paint but not absolutely certain. The finish was definately quite dull (not flat). You can use almost any black with a flatting base added in the right proportion to get a satin finish. If put on well thinned and just enough to make it all black you will have the correct appearance. : Marco I should have added that I have been using SATIN radiator paint that I purchased years ago. If it hasn't been thinned yet (very pastey) it can be thinned with gas, mineral spirits, or even laquer thinner. It can then be applied like a stain and wait up to 5-10 minutes to wipe of any spots that remain wet. Some radiator shops carry only the gloss type so call around. P.S. It's the best thing for your radiator to! |
