Fred-

First, the spring tie bolt (center bolt) must be tight or it will eventually shear. I don't know what the torque should be for a 3/8"-16 bolt, but maybe someone else can answer that.

The spring clips (u-bolts) measure approximately 4-3/8" from the top of the crossmember to the end of the bolt. It's tough to measure when installed! I've seen several cars with 1932 spring clips which are at least 1/4" longer.

There were five different rear springs. The Town Sedan used a ten leaf spring with only the station wagon/commercial rear spring being slightly thicker on two leaves. I don't know the total thickness of the Town Sedan spring, but the bottom should be almost perfectly flush with the bottom of the crossmember.

There were three different thickness spring clip bars, but the Town Sedan should have the thinnest measuring approximately 11/16" thick. When all the correct parts are installed the cotter holes end up even (+/-) with the EDGE of the castle nut. If you need any specific measurements let me know.

Marco
