Halogen lights

I have tried halogen lamps with a NUrex altenator and it doesn't work here where the speeds are slow. I really light the extra light but the way I tried it as advertised doesn't work. Has anyone else had better luck without going the 12v route? Thanks Ed efr@nanutcket.net
