: I have a set of brake shoes that have the linings glued to the shoe instead of riveted. Are these any better or worse than the riveted kind. thanks for any help, jim corliss G'Day jim, We've been hot bonding friction material to light vehicle brake shoes for the last 20 years or so, & providing as Henrik suggests the correct material is used, you shouldn't have a problem. I've bonded my A shoes as it's a lot easier (especially owning a brake shop) & there's also less chance of the lining working loose if the rivets aren't fitted correctly ,which can happen with the softer type flexible materials. All the heavy duty applications (trucks) have the linings riveted to the shoes. Regardz DJ. OutOfAfrica A's
