: It is in, what I think is good running condition but has never been restored.

First question: Is he the original owner???

Believe it or not, sometimes an original condition car is worth more than a restored one, especially if the restored car was not done to very high standards.Often some collectors will pay a premium for an original owner car, expecially if it has some documentation. So if your Grandpa is the original owner, please have him look and see if he has the original title or sales slip or factory invoice or original license plates or original tools that came with it.All those little extras might just double the cars value.

With that said, for values there are several sources for pricing. The Old Car Price Guide is one, and comes out quarterly or bi-monthly and is available in many U.S. grocery stores and news stands, and some public libraries.

Maybe you can surf on over to the national model A club sites and find a link to a local model A club.Lots of club members are often very willing to help check out a car.Just beware of the lowballer, fortunately not a lot of those in model A clubs that I've found so you should be okay.

Others will probably tell you they need to know what model of car and what options it has, so go to a library and check out a model A book and try to identify exactly what the car is.

Of course you could decide to keep the car in the family and buy it yourself, but then you've probably already considered that.

Mike in Milwaukee.
