: If you have any secrets for bending those aluminum gutters and making them fit right, please pass them along!I bought a pair and can't figure out how to bend them into the right shape.

: And how in the world does one fasten them on?

: Has anyone seen a write up on installing these?

RICK,

I just got a set the other day also and was just about to publish a note on how to install them. The direction set that I got from Bratton's said to trace the curve from the side of the car where the drip rail attaches and transfer this curve to a piece of 2 x 10, shape it with a jig saw and thennail this to a piece of plywood.Thengrasping the last 6 inches of the part to be bent, slide the aluminum rail across the plywood and pull the rail against the 2 x 10 shaped piece. This bending is to be done WITHOUT the backing piece in place. This is to be bent separately, but the method calls for making hacksaw cuts about half way across the strip about 1/2" apartonly in the area where the alrge bend is to be made. The genlt bends appear easy to do a the metal seems soft. Then bend the strip as you did the rail.ALSO NOTE that there is a left and a right, one side being the mirror image of the other.Don't bend two the same.

I don't think that should be too hard as the aluminum is soft.

MY QUESTION is the backing strip looks like it is designed to slide into the drip rail, but how in the world could you do this without making a mess of the paint and most importantly, going around the bend.If you can't slide the drip rail onto the backing strip, then how do you fasten (attach) the drip rail or even get it onto the backing strip. You may have to trim off one of the flanges on the backing strip in order to make it work.Any one have any ideas?
