: I have a 1931 Tudor which I need to strip the paint. I've read about places that can dip parts in large tanks and completly strip off the paint. I would like to remove everything except for the body shell and have it dipped. The body shell itself could then be stipped by hand. Does anyone have experience with this and know of any "strip tanks" in New England?
: Thanks, Joe

Hi Joe..

You should also consider sand blasting.Find a sand blaster that restores old cars, and he/she will understand the mechanics of removing paint without damaging or distorting the sheet metal.

The guy who blasted my 30 coupe body used "used" sand, which has lost a little of it's sharpness which results in a smoother surface. He also "moves around" while blasting to minimize the distortion.

Then you wouldn't have to worry about the chemical problems. As with any method, it is important to prime the metal surfaces as soon as possible to prevent "rust blush".
