However you approach either of the Model A springs if you don't approach them with respect and caution you could be the worse for it. Especially someone with little experience. If you have done a few springs they are no real hurdle but someone who has not had the experience should be very careful indeed. I agree that the front spring is not as lethal as the rear but if you don't respect either they'll put your teeth in a cup on the bed stand... just like mine. Or worse.

: Greg's approach and experience with the front spring are similar to mine -- the leaves were not contemptuous.

: : The front spring is not very difficult to replace. You need to place jack stands on the frame to support the front of the car. Then remove the front wheels, disconnect the shock links and brake rods at this time also.Place your floor jack under the front axle and remove the 4 nuts and plate that hold the spring against the front crossmember. Now lower the axle on to the ground.Remove one shackle at a time by using a punch and a hammer to knock them out.The front spring is not under any pressure like the rear spring is, so it will not go anywhere.Do the same to the other shackle and your spring should be loose from the axle.If you want to take the spring apart, just put a c-clamp over the spring and loosen the nut and bolt. Then undo the c-clamp.One important note when putting the spring and axle back in the car, is to make sure the head of the bolt fits into the hole in the cross member. It keeps the front axle from sliding around under the car.Good luck.
