Hi Dean.I converted my cutout to a diode several years ago.I now have driven about 2500 miles and it's performed flawlessly.
I've driven Model A's for 30 years, and the sticking points in a cutout has been a problem from time to time.With the diode, there aren't any moving parts, and it looks like I'll have MANY trouble-free miles from my electrical system.
BTW, my first battery I tried with this combination went 5 years - not bad for a $40 battery.
