Dave,
I remember seeing a picture of a Model A with an oil can mounted to the firewall.I think it said that this was for only the very early cars (maybe the first 200). It was a carry over from the Model T.It was placed a little off center towards the passengers side a little higher than the coil. I think the article was in the Restorer but I have not been able to find it yet.
