Engine power

I have a question to those who have converted to 12 volts negative ground..

I am having a hard time getting my B engine in my 30 coupe to run right. When I press down on the accellerator, the engine wants to die and has no power at all.My question follows some comments

Tank is clean, no dirt in the filter bowl, engine just overhauled, timing is right on because it starts right now and idles good.Just replaced the condensor with no change.Running a B carb and a B distributor.

My question has to do with the coil wiring.Does the red wire go to the + pole on the coil on the passenger side, and does the black wire go to the - side on the driver's side like the original schematic shows?

Is a resistor needed when using a 12 volt coil?

Yeah, you can tell, can't ya..I don't know beans about the Model A electrical stuff..

Regards..
