: I have about 20-25 deg. play in the dist. shaft at the rotor.
: Any suggestions on probable causes, or what to watch for when
: I take it apart. THANKS AGAIN.

G'Day Jim,
I don't believe your problem lies with the internals of your distributor but rather with the drive shaft which comes up from the camshaft take-off & possibly the end of the distributor shaft itself. When you remove the distributor I'msure you'll find the offset drive tang is worn & possibly the intermediate shaft too, which you should be able to fish out from the top once the distributor's out. These seem to be reasonably cheap & readily available items plus you don't have to be a brain surgeon to carry out the work. There's a really good article on distributor overhaul in volume 4 of "How To Restore Your Model A", definately worth buying.
