: I have total production numbers for the 190-A of 42,310. Domestic production was 40,212 & Foreign was 2,098. I recently looked at a 1931 Victoria that was for Sale at the Hershey Show. The engine number was #4,515,276 which places the production in March of 1931. This car was a STEEL BACK which raises a new question. Does anyone have production figures that breakdown the STEEL BACKS from the LEATHER BACKS? ?If you can help please reply, thanks.

Tim,
The Victoria Association has been logging all of the information on the Victorias of its members. So far we have not been able to find any production information which differentiates between the steel back and the leather back versions.Of the data that we do have, most of the early production was leather back and the steel backs start showing up around February of '31.There seems to be strings of leatherbacks and then steel backs suggesting that the cars may have been built in batches. With about 57% of the recorded numbers being leatherbacks. This is not scientific nor is it "cast in concrete".It is just the data that we have on about 250+ cars and based on the body tag numbers, and engine/frame numbers.Another interesting tidbit, all of the body tags recorded are Murray. There is not one confirmed Briggs built Victoria body among the Victorias surveyed.
This information is being compiled by Victoria Association member Bob Bidonde.
