Yes a Model A can be jump started from a 12 volt battery but it has to be done carefully.The Model A is a 6 volt POSITIVE ground system. So make sure that you connect the + side of the 12 volt battery to ground.Also make sure that all of the lights are OFF or they will burn out. The safest way to do it is to disconnect the starter from the 6 volt battery then connect the 12 volt battery to just the starter. Otherwise connect the 12 volt battery only while you are operating the starter (have someone else connect and disconnect it while you are starting the car). Be careful car batteries produce hydrogen and sparks from connecting or disconnecting jumper cables will ignite the hydrogen. However, this is not something I would do on a regular basis.
