Hi,
Lets see if any of this helps.All of the engines for U.S. produced Model A cars were cast, assembled and numbered in Detroit.The engines were then shipped to the assembly plants.The engine number was stamped into the top of the frame just outside of the clutch pedal. Thus engine and frame matched for an original car.Engine production was also ahead of car assembly and could be by two to three months.
Most 1928 and 1929 cars had a date stamped into the firewall just about the flange on the drivers side in the engine compartment.Let me know what you find out.
