: I'm looking for information on the reproduction Model A's made in the late 1970's and sold through Ford Dealers. Most of these (if not all) were made by a company named Shay.

: I'm interested in production numbers, location of the company that made them, number of models that they produced, etc. And if you know of any people that own them, I'd like to get in touch with them too, especially owners that originally purchased one.

: I plan to publish my findings on the Model A Ford Club of America (MAFCA) web site if any of you are interested in what I discover. Thanks in advance for your help with this project.

There is a company in Monterey CA. on cannery row called rent a roadster that has a number of Shay replicas.Theymight be able to give you serial #'s and even reliability data. You should be able to find them on the net.If not speak up and I will find them for you.
Rick, now that I have your attemtion again, I am still somewhat confused about the pickup body styles. You replied that a 78-A was a roadster and the 82-A was the closed cab, in the how to restore your model a series #? it says athe 76-A is a roadster and the 78-A is a short bed so if the 82-A is NOT a AA truck what the heck is it. I guess the main problem is I have a29 closed cab with about a 4 1/2 foot bed and I don't know if the body style # is a 78-A or 82-A.If you are interestd, I am doing a ground up for a driver and will have it on the road by the end of Oct.THANKS again.
