Emergency Brake Cross Shaft Grease Fittings

I am in the process of doing a complete body off restoration of a 1928 phaeton. I am replacing all the old style grease fittings with modern style ones. The grease fittings for the emergency brake cross shaft were originally 25 degree drive-in type. The only drive-in modern type available seems to be the straight variety and the only angled modern type available seems to be 1/8 pipe threaded. Before threading the holes in the chassis(frame) I would like to know if the straight drive-in type are able to be used i.e. is there sufficient clearance between the splash apron and the fitting to connect a flexible grease gun connection? I estimate that there would be about 4 inches of clearance between the end of the grease fitting and the splash apron, which should be enough. Would appreciate your experience out there as it will be much easier for me to fit modern threaded angle fittings if necessary before the body goes on. Thanking you in anticipation.
