: I am interested in restoring my coup. It has a Briggs body with a block that has a July 1930 motor number on it. How do you know if it is a 30 or 31. and if it is a standard, deluxe or what.

Neal,
The following is a quote from the book Henry's Lady by Ray Miller, Page 167,"When introduced in January('30), there was only one 1930 Coupe, a standard model.Shortly after, though, a Deluxe Coupe was offered which differed only in the trim and in the addition of the cowl lamps and an interior dome light."
I have a (July)30 Coupe (original engine, matching numbers). It has the two piece running boards that Mike has mentioned. For further clarification "two piece" means the splash aprons do not extend into the front fender.Instead, the nose section of the apron is a separate piece and is welded to the fender.Mike is right.Get the books, study them. It's a great hobby!Have fun.
Paul
