Several easy ways to identify the "Model Year" of your coupe. The splash aprons (sheet metal between the running board and the door sill) on the '30 are two piece, '31 is one piece. Radiator shell on '30 has body color at bottom and bright metal at top with Ford insignia. '31 has body color at top and on the bottom as well. Simple way to make an initial identification of Deluxe is the presence of cowl lights. There are other differences as well. Buy the books if you really want to "restore" they are essential. A long discussion of reference material occurred on this BB a short time ago. Scroll back and take heed.

Good luck and don't rush... read the books and learn for yourself and you will enjoy the hobby. Don't forget to listen as well but if you have done your homework you will know what info is bogus and which is real.

God speed under 50.

: I am interested in restoring my coup. It has a Briggs body with a block that has a July 1930 motor number on it. How do you know if it is a 30 or 31. and if it is a standard, deluxe or what.
