: Having just gotten my '29 Tudor to the "driveable chassis" stage, I have encountered three areas where I need some help from the many experts out there.First, my starter fields and armature have been checked for continuity and all bushings, etc. have been replaced. However, the starter does not deliver much torque before wimping out, even though it spins freely and quietly when not under load. What to check?

: Secondly, there are fine droplets of oil coming out of the oil filler cap area under higher revs.Normal?

*All Model A's have a little pressure in the crankcase. Add this to all the splashing going on and it's little wonder that some oil can work it's way up the filler tube. A simple fix is a small amount of screen wire (window screen; aluminum or steel) rolled into a cylindrical shape about 2 1/2 to 3 inches long and wedged into the tube cover projecting down into the filler neck. The oil then collects on the wad of screen and drips back into the crank case once the engine is shut down but the pressure from the crankcase is allowed to bypass the screen.

: Finally, even after torquing to 55 lbs when hot, the exhaust manifold leaks at the extreme front when the engine is first started. The rebuilder said he checked for straightness etc. Cures?

*Try a different type of gasket. Also do you have the rings installed? And is the manifold really straight. Since I don't have a show car I prefer the one piece gasket. In a pinch a piece of sheet copper can be used to bolster the exhaust gasket to stop the leak but this can cause intake manifold leaks.

: Your expertise is greatly appreciated and has contributed in large part to any successes so far.

Don't know about the expertise part, mostly it's just scratching the noggin and trying things until something works. I really am a dummy when it comes to things electrical, maybe someone else can help on the starter.

Mike Flanagan, The Model A Fool.

: Thank you!
