Water Pumps in Model A Ford and Antifreeze

In this week's issue of Old Cars Weekly there is an article about
antifreeze in older cars.This article states that the Model A
Ford did not have a water pump and that the cooling system
was by convection.Moreover, it stated that antifreeze
in Model A Fords is bad and it may get into to engine
The article recommended straight water in the radiator.
So is the article full or bull or a word to the wise??
