: I just bought a model "A" engine (since the rules say you should have more than one) and the fan is odd.Instead of the blades being a double thickness of sheet metal as usual, the doubling ends about 2" down the blade from the hub, and the blades are only one layer out at the tip.Since the pan and oil pump are "AR" versions, I'm wondering if this is an early manifestation of the fan??

: any insights are welcome.

Bob, hopefully JD in AZ will pick up on this question later tonite. He showed me just the fan you describe the other day and if memory serves it was late in the production run. The laminated fan blade was discontinued in an attempt to try to stem the tide of two bladed fans flying all over the place. I'm told this fan is very rare, send it to me and I will verify everything and send it back... I promise I will....

I have an original two blade fan and just for grins I had a friend do an ultrasound on the blades... I don't even get close to it when it's on the bench. Zing.

God speed under 50.
