Marith: Thank you for your technical insight on my rear main leak. After reading your reply, I dropped the pan and am now quite intimate with the workings of the crankshaft/bearing oil system and the like. The rear main bearing was cracked and slightly separated at the thrust face and the center main was also cracked. The crank and bearings were not scored, however, I opted to pull the motor and have the rods and mains rebabbitted. While I was at it I found a few other things in need of attention. My clutch was down to the rivets and four teeth on the ring gear were just about gone. One of the rear motor mount frame horns was severely cracked (metal fatigue).I'm glad I poked into things as I know I have now headed off some conditions that were going to raise thier heads one by one down the road (literally).Once again thank you and also thanks to John Icenhower.I have learned a lot from reading both of your technical commentaries. It is nice of you both to share so much of your time, time that you could be spending enjoying your own Model A's.
