: My problem of the week on my recently acquired 28 Tudor is a very bad oil leak from the rear main of the engine.I note that the parts catalogue lists an aluminum rear mail bearing oil seal. Can this be replaced without pulling the engine or can it be done in car??Thanks for any information you may be able to offer.
: Further note to those of you who helped in solving my condensor problem; I took the car for a 10 mile drive over the weekend and it felt great! Thanks again.

Hi Jim..

If all the good suggestions don't seem to work, I would suggest you drop the crank and take it to a machine shop and have them remachine the rear of the crank to accept the new nitile (special rubber-like compound) rear main seal that's available from a few model A parts houses. There are instructions with the seal to tell the machinist where and how much. The machining takes less than an hour, and the seal is under 10 bucks.I did that to my engine, and the rear main area is as dry as a bone.

If you need the part number and source of the seal, let me know.

Regards..
