: The headlights on my late 31 Tudor Deluxe are like most headlights I've see on most 30 and 31 Fords with a narrow rim surrounding the headlight lens.However, I have seen more than one 31 Ford with headlights that have a much wider and flatter rim around the headlight lens.I may be mistaken, but I think I've seen some of these wider rims with a black band of paint around it.

Ibelieve that what you are seeing is the sealed beam adaptation to the original headlights.They are available in the parts catalogues for around 30 bucks. Note the absence of the original light lenses.
