: I recently found a 37 tooth ring gear in a Model A differential. It did not have a pinion gear so I do not know the ratio.Anyone have the correct pinion gear to match? : Dave Bockman You have a 1928 differential and ring gear which used a ring with 37 teeth and a pinion which used 10 teeth, for a ratio of 3.7:1.This gear was discontinued in 1928 and substituted for a ring gear of 34 teeth and pinion with 9 teeth, for a ratio of 3.78:1.These gears are not interchangable, and the pinion gear from the 1928 differential will only fit an early 1928 driveshaft, not the later driveshaft, so you will need to find a pinion and a driveshaft.Since the pinionand ring gears were ground in to be a set, its really not a good idea to use a ring from one set and a pinion from a different set anyway. It would be easiest to find a later style driveshaft and install new gear set. Good luck. |
