TUDOR Top Padding

I am getting ready to install th top on my 30 TUDOR and found that the cotton padding that I got from Bratton's just barely covers the chicken wire.Is this correct or should the padding extend down to the rain gutters?I thought that I read somewhere that it went down to the drip rails and was tapered in that area.Also would 1/4 inch foam be a good replacement as it wouldn't compress and pack down? Any help will be appreciated.
PS.Thanks to those that gave me input on the clutch chatter.It seems much better since I slipped the clutch and probably got some of the rust off the flywheel. --Tony
