: I would appreciate any comments - pro or con - for the "modern" upper distributor plate.I am sometimes a little leary of such modifications.I like to hear the experiences of others who have tried them.

Wayne,

I'll offer an opposing view.Although I have never used a modern top plate, I can say that I have never had any reason to switch from the orginal. All right, I must admit, I have modified the original set-up so I can quick change my pionts, but thats all I've done.I put on 3-5K miles per year on my "A" and I can't remember the last time I had to change my condensor. Our club does do a lot of touring and most of use have stayed with the original and not had any problems.I think the condensor is like any other product, if you get a good one, it will last a very long time.

Hope this gives a different perspective.

Doug
