: HELP!
: I was given one of the alternators that is rebuilt to work on a Model A that you get from the aftermarket parts suppliers. Its an older Delco Remy with the diodes installed separate, maybe one of the earler ones available.I installed this because my generator went kaput and had the alternatoravailable. It appears to charge now but the ampmeter still fluctuates with the engine rpms.I thought that alternators were suppose to keep a constant amp no matter what rpm.A friend told me that the units installed on a Model A will still fluctuate with RPM.My meter fluctuates between 2 and 12 depending on rpm (sometimes 15 to 20 at full throttle without lights on) Perhaps the battery is still not fully charged?Would appreciate ANY information that can help to solve this charging problem. Thanks.

Bruce, I found this address in the Model A News magazine a while back.Buckeye Auto Electric, 547 Hoyt St.,Painsville, Ohio 44077, 216-354-3060,Joe Mazzone. He sells them for 65.00 plus 5.00 shipping.I have bought two of them and several of our club members have bought them. They work very well and he gurantees them for 1 year. They perform as those described in the other replies to your question. I have since converted a couple of them myself, using a kit which I get from Buckeye. If you are interested in "doing it yourself", let me know.
Have fun!
Paul
