Hi there. What I've done is to get a cotton buffing wheel and use some stainless steel buffing compound. Both are available mail order from Alamo Ventures, 800 321-9669, in Alamo California.

I had an old electric motor laying around, so I put the buffing pad on the shaft, bolted it to my work bench, and took an old 30-31 headlight shell and tried it out.The results are quick and astonishing - within 20 minutes, it looked almost like new!

I tried taillights, chrome parts, they all looked real nice after a few minutes of buffing.

The negative for Model A restorers is that you have to take the parts off the car for best results, but it's easy to do.

There was a great article on Stainless restoration in MAFCA's Restorer Magazine many years ago and later reprinted in their book "How To Restore Your Model A", volume2 (still available).I'd suggest that you check that out too.
