I agree with Paul's comments, especially how point location is critical - this is so the rotor position (in relation to the contact in the distributor body) is near one edge when the points are retarded, and near the other edge when fully advanced (that's why the rotor projection is so wide on a Model A).Moving the condensor inside the distributor is no guarantee of long life, though, as one of my "modern" condensors gave out after just an hour or so of use!In any case it's a better set-up than the original.
