: i would like to know what weight oil i could use in the rear end and transmission of my "30 model a ? one restoration : book says that it uses 600 weight. where would i find that?? Jim, The 600 wt oil is the correct one for the steering, transmission and differential. It can be obtained from most Model A parts suppliers.Call Walt Bratton at 1-800-255-1929 he carries it.It is about $4 per qt.You will need a pint for the transmission, 1 1/2 pints for the rear axle and 7 3/4 oz. for the steering. The heaviest wt transmission oil I've found at oil change places, Quick Lube etc., is 140wt and it is too thin for the Model A application.
