: I'd like opinions on stripping paint in preparation to body repair and primering/painting.I have a two car garage, in the city, and want to do a body-off restoration.I can handle themechanicals restoration, but the body restoration is another thing.I'd appreciate opinions/experiences of others who may have been in the same position.
: Thanks for your time and sharing, Neil

My situation is identical to yours Neil.Double garage, in the city.Did two cars that way.As already suggested, the hand method has proved best for me on body panels.Had some fenders blasted with no problems. But the large surface areas on doors and quarter panels are another thing.Removing all the paint down to primer is the way to go.If the original primer is there and lasted this long, not likely that any problem will show up.I like to put a sealer on the old stuff anyway and have had good success with the newer catalyzed primers such as EuroPrime(the yellow stuff). It goes on easy and "works" very well. Ofcourse on the bodyI had to seal it before applying lacquer.Used Emron on the fenders & splash aprons and no seal was required.I tried a little experiment when painting the enamel.Hung the fenders upside down and sprayed them.I seemed to reduce the amount particles settling on them. (I have no paint booth, just an amateur)
Good luck with it.
Paul
