Hey! What generator is this?

Another in a long line of mysterious Model A developments.

I recently received a gift of a broken generator (the kind of gifts I usually get)proportedly off a '28 sport coupe.Well it's obviously not a powerhouse and is probably not original equipment to his '28.It's the same size and shape as the later model A generator and will fit the A quite nicely but it has some differences that I'm not familiar with.Rather than an end plate (on the back) it has a slide on cover (imagine a spray paint can lid that fits over the outside end of the generator) held on by screws on the outside of the case. The back bearing and brushes are contained in this cover and come off when the back cover is removed. The cover also has an oiler similar to the one on a distributor screwed into the center of the back of the cover (again imagine a spray nozzle on a spray can).(The doctors all tell me that I have a strange way of looking at things).

When I took this thing apart, one of the brush attachments was broken and came off the plate holding it to the cover.Probably the reason that it was described as "broken" by it's previous owner. It looks very repairable but I would like to know what it is so I can ask for the right parts.Does anybody out there have a guess as to the what, where and model this thing is?Your help, as always, is much appreciated.
