: : : Wantoriginal OD C1-b electric windshield wiper in excellent or show condition. Please give condition and price.

: : Jim,

: : I have an outside electric windshield wiper motor & assembly.I purchased it a few months ago and it was suppose to be for my 29 Special Coupe. When it was time to install it, the studs & arms did not fit the holes in the windshield.I since then purchased another one & it fits.If you can tell me how to tell if it is the correct one you are looking for, I can check for you.The person I purchased it from said it was recently rebuilt and in excellent condition.I have never tested it to see if it works, although I have no reason that it wouldn't.It looks in excellent shape. The price is $295.The same as I paid for it.

: : If you are interested, let me know.

: Bob,
: Thanks for the reply. If you have access to a copy of the Judging Standards, the OD-C1b is described in detail along with sketches. Basically, it has a pot metal (zinc die cast) base that forms heavy mounting ears that attach to the car. the outside cover has a non-uniform width, being substantially narrower at the front (the side away from the windshield) than it is at the back (the side closest to the windshield). The shafts that penetrate into the inside of the car are not symmetrically spaced; the on-off switch and power connector are located on the passenger side of the unit, the shaft that holds the wiper arm is located on the driver's side of the unit, there is no shaft located in the center of the unit.

: The OD-C1b is very similar to its predecessor, the OD-C1a. However, the OD-C1b has an adjustable blade tension, and the cover screws are located on the sides of the cover. The cover screws on the OD-C1a are located on the back, and there is no way to adjust the blade tension.

: Later wiper units had symmetrical shafts and won't fit in the same holes as the OD-C1 styles.

: Hope this enables you to tell which unit you have. Let me know, and we might be able to work something out.

: Thanks,
: Jim

Jim,

I just recently sent away & received the judging standards. There is a picture of the one I have, except the one I have has the screws that hold the cover on are at the side. What I can do is take a digital picture of this wiper assembly & e-mail it to you.I'm not sure how to do this via this board. If you want to provide me your e-mail address, I can possibly send it that way. This way you can actually see the wiper and then see if it's the one you are looking for. I know that when I needed one, they were somewhat hard to locate.Let me know.

Bob
