: My newly purchased 1930 Model A appears be leaking oil in front of the clutch housing.I was told it probably was the rear engine seal.Does this sound correct and if so how much money am I gonna have to pay to have it fixed???Also, do I take it to an engine shop or transmission shop??Any and all info would be appreciated.

Walt,
There is a rear main seal in the Model A. It is part number A-6335 and fits in the top half of the block only and is made of cast aluminum. It is not much of a seal though. I had a very bad leak in an early 28 Tudor with 1,000 miles on a rebuilt engine. I ended up pulling the engine, taking out the crankshaft and having the rear oil slinger turned off and installed a neoprene seal without cutting it ion two. No oil leak! The best fit I have seen. I agree that you need to join a club and get some help, but with the books yopu can do it yourself. It cost me about $65.00.
