: : What is the most likely cause of the engine knocking off after coming to a stop? The compensator and idle jets, and secondary well, are clear.

: Fred,
: I would check the fuel level in the bowl. Also moke sure the idle passage way is open, not just the jet. If the jets are not correct, when stopping the gas will move forward then rearward and the gas level will be momentarly higher than the jet, resulting in the gas coming out the jet and flooding the engine. The engine then cranks right back up. Let us know what you find. Jim McPherson

I checked the level in the fuel bowl.It was at 1/2 inch, so I bent the float hinge slightly to get a level of 5/8 inch.I took the car for a test drive, stopping frequently to try and make it stall out.Although the engine stumbled once, it never stalled out.Hopefully the problem has been solved. Now I'll have to check the float level in my other car!
