It depends on your definition of 'appropriate'.For judging purposes you can use a A-17080-C1, A-17080-C2 or A-17080-C3 jack. These are discribed in chapter 17 of the Judging Standards (this is the book you need if you want to know what is currently considered correct for a Model A).As for how much I do not know.
