: Any comments. How about using SAE 140, 220or poss 250 weight Gear lubeand mix in some STP for the Rear end?Does that beat the 600W that is being sold by vendors. Regards, Happy Model Aing

I have been using STP Oil Treatment for years and have not found anything that it will not work well on. As a lubricant. I wouldn't want to use it on salads. My 160B has had 50/50 STP and 600W (the 600 is not viscosity) in the rear end, the transmission and the steering gear since first acquired. I used a similar mixture in the differentials and planetary gears on crane carriers for years and never had a failure. All this in Arizona where you can fry an egg on the sidewalk. In the transmission and differential the mixture does indeed become somewhat congealed but only to the point that it is beneficial. Stays in places where other lubricants may not. These are only my opinions however I have never had a gear failure using STP and will continue to do so.
