: I'm looking for a tow bar for a Model A.The kind I'm looking for would attach to the front of a car that has the bumper removed and would use the bumper arm holes in the frame for attachment.

: Perhaps one of you readers have seen an article on how to build such a tow bar.I've checked all my Restorer magazines and have come up empty.

: Actually, I'd be interested in seeing ANY kind of a tow bar that would fit a Model A.I'm getting ready to haul my '31 chassis to a mechanic friend nearby, and I'd prefer not to put it on a trailer.

Rick, several of the members in Phoenix Model A Club have tow bars but all tow from the front axle. Were I to build/use a tow bar I would prefer one like you describe. If you are unsuccessful in your search I have a small welding shop behind my house and could fabricate one in fairly short order. Easiest would be to take a template (or better yet take the bumper with brackets attached) of the front frame horns indicating the hole locations to your nearest welding shop and have them make towbar attachments that would remain on the car permanently with the tow bar being secured by a shoulder bolt on each side. Then the tow bar is made from 1/2 x 2 flat bar bent and gussetted with a ball hitch. If you run out of possibilities contact me at Aflan1@Concentric.Net and I could get one to you within no longer than 2 weeks.
