: How do you go about tightening the drag links? The former owner of my 1930 closed cab replaced everything including the Pitman Arm. I have no cotterpins in as of this time.I sure would appreciate some advice on how far in the end bolts go. I also need to know what it looks like inside the drag links.
Ken,
I just completed this job on my '29 Briggs Leatherback. Tighten the ends until you can get the cotter pins in. l have plenty of tension but still turn easily without play. How they are assembled depends on the type of kit you have. Some have both thick and thin cup shaped parts which fit next to the ball. The tie rod ends assemble the same but the drag link ends are opposite as to how the spring fits. Just remember that the ball stud fits in the center of the opening ans assemble spring and cups to be centered. Good Luck. Jim McPherson
