: Can someone tell me the approximate cost of adding dual sidemounts to a 1930-1931 Model A?Is it fairly easy to do and are the parts readily available?

Hi Walt..

I added two sidemounts to my 31 Roadster some years ago.I can remember that it was quite an expeience and a hell of of a lot of work, blood sweat and tears. You didn't mention what year Model A you have. There was an article in an earlier MAFCA magazine regarding the installation of wells in a 28-29 Model A.

If you do decide to venture into the unknown, you have to cut the hole 1" smaller all the way around to allow for the "folding" of the lip down into the well. This is done by heating the lip with a torch and then hammering the lip down.I brazed my wells to the underside of the fenders. Then, a lot of grinding, filling, sanding, and then painting.I would strongly advise that you get an estimate from a good antique body shop, and let them do it, and preserve your sanity.Regards..Larry Jenkins

That's what happens when you don't really read the original post, Walt.I see you did mention the year of your car..
